About the Spelling Practice Generator
Spelling practice doesn't need to be complicated: write the word, write it again, then prove you know it without looking. This generator takes a weekly word list and builds all three steps onto one sheet — practice lines, an alphabetical-order section, and a blank test section — without you laying any of it out by hand.
The number of practice copies is adjustable, so a short list can get more repetition per word while a longer list still fits on a page or two.
How to use it in your classroom
- Paste this week's spelling list, one word per line.
- Set how many times each word should be written for practice.
- Turn on the ABC-order section if you want students to also alphabetize the list.
- Turn on the test section for a blank, numbered space to use as a dictation test.
Tips from the classroom
- Lower the practice copies for a longer list, and raise it for a short, high-value list of frequently misspelled words.
- The ABC-order section doubles as a quick dictionary-skills check — it's the same list, just a different task.
- Use the test section as a Friday quiz sheet: read each word aloud and have students write it in the numbered blanks.
- Keep this week's and last week's lists both in rotation for a cumulative review every few weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change how many times each word gets written?
Yes, the copies slider goes from one to six repetitions per word.
Is the test section pre-filled with the words?
No, it's intentionally blank lines so it works as an actual dictation test rather than a copying exercise.
Will a long word list still fit on one page?
It depends on your list length and copy count. If it runs long, it flows onto an additional page automatically.
